Ramalingaswami Re-Entry Fellowship announced for 2015:
All the applications are invited from Indian nationals working in overseas research institutions for the “Ramalingaswami Re-entry Fellowship”, this a re-entry scheme of the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of lndia.
Aim of the Fellowship:
This scholarship scheme is designed with the main motive of attracting highly skilled researchers (Indian nationals) who are working overseas in various cutting edge disciplines of biotechnology (agriculture, health sciences, bio-engineering, energy, environment, bioinformatics and other related areas), by giving them an attractive reward to pursue their R&D interests in Indian institutions. This is a great and huge assistance from this scholarship scheme.
Who is eligible to apply:
All the outstanding and deserving candidates are informed that they should possess a Ph.D., M.D., M.Tech, M.VSc or equivalent degree with an outstanding record which will be reflected in publications and other recognitions and with at least 3 years of post-doctoral research experience in overseas research laboratories.
Only those candidates (Indian nationals) working overseas are eligible to apply for this scheme.
Those candidates who have already returned to India within 1 year of the closing date of this advertisement are also eligible for those.
Researcher’s who are upto 55 years of age as determined on closing date of application are eligible to apply.
Amount of Ramalingaswami Fellowship:
This scheme provides a consolidated monthly remuneration of Rs.85000/- per month.
In addition, a House Rent Allowance of Rs.7500/- per month will be paid to fellows.
In case host institute provides accommodation to the fellow, no house rent allowance is required for that. There will be 3. Fellows will receive a research/contingency grant of Rs.10,00,000 lakh for the 1st year;
Rs.7,50,000 lakh for the 2nd year;
Rs.5.00.000 lakh for subsequent 3 years for purchasing f general equipments such as : minor equipment, international and domestic travel, engaging manpower and other contingent expenditure to be incurred for the implementation of research proposal
Tenure of fellowship :
The deserving Fellows may draw fellowship for a term of 5 years. This Fellowship can be extendable for next term on fresh appraisal of performance of the fellow. Those candidates who are able to secure their permanent positions will not be considered for 2nd term of this scheme.
