UGC announces the Rajiv Gandhi Fellowship for Students with Disabilities 2015-16

The University Grants Commission UGC gives the opportunity for all the talented and eligible students for the Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship (RGNF) for those Students with Disabilities for the academic session 2015-16 .
The Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship has been given the special chance to all those students who wish to pursue their post graduate studies with a special chance to continue and make something different in the field of higher education such as M.Phil or Ph.D.

The common name of Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship is RGNF which was came into existence in the year 2012. The Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship RGNF gives the special chance t to the disable students who wish to practice their higher education leading to M.Phil and Ph.D.

The various fields of M.Phil/ Ph.D are furnished below for which the RGNF will be offered to the suitable candidates.

** Humanities

** Social Sciences

** Commerce

** Science

** Engineering & Technology

An online application mat be submitted by all the eligible candidates at their web portal of UGC to get enrolled in the RGNF for students with Disabilities. All the disable candidates who have already registered in the M.Phil/Ph.D are entitled to make application for this fellowship. UGC RGNF is given for the duration of 2 years for M.Phil and 5 years for Ph.D.

It is analysed that every academic year there will be near about 200 students are benefited under the UGC RGNF. The reservation process of the applicable students are here explained, SC candidate 15% and Scheduled Tribe students, 7.5% reservation will be granted like this only..

Eligibility Criteria:

The students who are Indian citizen are eligible for the Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship.

All eligible candidates must have the their Post Graduate Degree for Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship.
The candidates must have enrolled their names in M.Phil/Ph.D. program on the 1st available opportunity.

There is no restriction or boundation on the marks obtained in the Post Graduate Degree for RGNF for students with disability.

There will be no requirement of clearing of any qualifying examination like NET / SLET to be eligible for the RGNF for students with Disabilities.

All candidates are informed that they only required to have Disability Certificate which must be issued by Medical authority notified for the purpose to be selected for Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship.
Reward under Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship for Disabled Students 2015:​

There will be around 200 scholarships are awarded to all the selected eligible candidates under the UGC RGNF.

The duration of UGD RGNF for disabled students are given below:

Ph.D. course : 5 Years (JRF-2 years, SRF-3 Years)
M.Phil course : 2 years (JRF-2 years)
M.Phil + Ph.D: 5 Years (JRF-2 years, SRF-3 Years)
Amount of UGC RGNF 2015:

Fellowship (For All Subjects) :
Rs.16,000 per month for initial two years (JRF)
Rs.18,000 per month for the remaining tenure (SRF)
Contingency Amount For Humanities, Social Sciences and Commerce:
Rs.10,000 per annum for initial two years,
Rs.20,500 per annum for remaining three years
Contingency Amount For Sciences and Engineering & Technology:
Rs.12,000 per annum for initial two years,
Rs.25,000 per annum for remaining three years.

Escorts / Reader Assistance:
Rs.2, 000 per month in case of physically and visually challenged candidates.

The fellowship will get the HRA as per the norms of university or institution.

How to Apply:

All the outstanding applicants who are interested to enrol their names for UGC RGNF for disabled students are just need to go for the online application at UGC fellowship official website. The application procedure is given as under.

The candidates should submit the online application at the web portal of UGC

There is no offline mode for application process is available.

All candidates are required to upload their personal and academic information to fulfil the application form requirement.

Documents Required :

Here are the following documents which are required to be submitted:

The applicant must submit the disability certificate issued by Medical authority.

The students must submit their Mark sheets of Undergraduate as well as postgraduate courses.

All candidates must submit the proof of admission into M.Phil. /Ph.D. course in a recognized institution covered under UGC Act.

A Joining certificate must also be submitted by the candidates from the institution where the student has taken admission for their M.Phil. /Ph.D. course.
Selection Procedure:

The University Grants Commission will make the selection of the candidates from the received applications.
The UGC will make panels of expert to observe the needed qualifying parameters in the form of enclosed documents and considering the merit of the candidates.
If the number of applications reached above than the number of fellowships received, then the selection will be made marks obtained by the students.
